A British World War II 1939-1945 War Medal. This medal was awarded to all British participants in the World War II effort following the end of the war. The medal bears the profile of King George VI to the obverse, circled by the Latin motto ‘Imp. Georgius VI G. Br. Omn Rex et Indiae’ (Emperor George VI, King of All of Great Britain and India), and the image of a lion trampling a two-headed beast with the heads of an eagle and a dragon below the inscription ‘1939-1945’ to the reverse. The medal is suspended from a rectangular blue, white, and red ribbon.
