An acrylic painting on panel by New York-based artist Bill Schiffer. This Modernist style work features black geometric forms on a white ground, including a large central circle and small arrows scattered throughout, as well as colored shapes in red, yellow, and green as accents to the composition. It is signed and dated 2007 to the verso. This piece is presented with a black backing and wire to the verso for hanging.
Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980’s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
