Antique Late Classical Mahogany and Cherry Sideboard
Item Details
An antique Late Classical mahogany and cherry sideboard, circa second quarter of the 19th century. The paneled case features a rectangular top backed by a conforming, molded gallery with bookmatched, mahogany veneers terminating in engaged, Ionic columns. Directly below the top are cherry side panels continuing to a flamed, mahogany-veneered façade with three aligned, dovetailed frieze drawers above four aligned, blind-paneled doors. The drawers are fitted with turned knobs and the felt-lined, center drawer has a removable, flatware divider. The doors are separated by four block-, vase-, and ring-turned colonettes and they open to two-shelf interiors. The sideboard rises on six ball- and ring-turned legs ending in glass, disc feet with brass caps.
