Antique Eastlake Walnut Hall Tree
Item Details
An antique Eastlake walnut hall tree. This mirrored hall tree is in the style of English architect and furniture designer Charles Eastlake (1836-1906), with its strong rectilinear lines and architectural pediment on the top; below which is a square burl walnut panel flanked with stylized acanthus leaves, over the the beveled mirror, flanked by the original brass coat hooks, that ends just above a shelf meant to hold ones gloves, or keys. Under the shelf are two sets of pegs meant to hold scarves, hats or short coats with a panel of burl walnut between the two sets and above the turned and incise carved umbrella holder with a removeable brass drip pan set into the base; with the base resting on two scrolled feet in the front and on the panelled back. Unmarked.
