Collection of Hand-Painted Pennsylvania Robesonia and Breininger Pottery Redware

A collection of hand-painted Pennsylvania German serveware and decor including Breininger Pottery and Robesonia redware. Included are three handbuilt egg forms, brightly hand-painted and decorated in the traditional sgraffito technique, using slips and an incising tool to carve away decorative areas to reveal the red clay underneath. Each is then glazed in a clear gloss glaze. Also included are six bowls of various sized, each with a different pattern and glaze palette having traditional Old World European designs; one bowl has an octagonal shape with a tulip pattern. Also included is a rounded rectangular tray with raised sides and a lightly textured rim. Most pieces are hand-inscribed with the Breininger Pottery name or mark, or ‘BP’ with a date.
