William Littlefield Original 1962 Oil Painting on Paper
Item Details
An original 1962 oil painting on found paper by very well-listed American painter William ‘Bill’ H. Littlefield (Massachusetts/New York, 1902 – 1969). The painting depicts an organic abstract composition made of bulbous forms painted in shades of purple, pale gray, various shades of orange, yellow-green, green, and more; some have dark outlines delineating them. The painting is monogrammed and dated ‘6/11/62’ by the artist to the lower right. It is presented on white backing and presented behind glass in a white composite frame with a stand to the verso. Beneath the frame’s backing, the piece is also dated ‘6/12/60’ and the artist’s estate stamp is visible.
Littlefield studied under famed painters Adeline Wolever and Stanley William Hayter. He was co-founder of the Cape Cod Art Association and exhibited extensively, including at the Museum of Modern Art and Whitney Museum.
Condition
- wear to verso of paper. Paintings should be professionally framed.
