Original 1941 Mixed Media Animation Cels from Walt Disney's "Bambi"

A group of original circa 1941 mixed media animation cels from the Walt Disney animated film Bambi. Featured are two cel depicting Bambi with Thumper’s family, as well as a cel that depicts a duckling cautiously stepping into a pond. Each is set against a watercolor and gouache painted background marked with a ‘WDP’ Walt Disney Productions stamp to the lower margin. They are matted in tan and presented under glass in wooden frames with hanging wire mounted to the verso. One of the frame backings includes a label from Courvoisier Galleries of San Francisco with information about the work, noted with a Walt Disney Productions copyright of 1937.

Condition

- to Poor; warping, edge wear, heat damage and discoloration to cels; surface wear and craquelure to cel images and coloring, with areas of flaking, paint lift and media loss; discoloration and foxing to paper; uneven discoloration to matting with moisture stains to top edges; edge wear, nicks and scratching to frames; tears to frames’ backing paper.
