Antique Folk Art Horse Pull Toy Converted to Rocking Horse

Item Details

An antique horse pull toy converted to a rocking horse. The piece features a hand carved wood body covered in a cream tone leather with plaid fabric saddle pad. The horse’s muzzle and nose have been finished with red and black paint and the front of the leather has been cut into strips to replicate a horse’s forelock. The leather has been stitched with black string and also hammered to the piece. It has a leather neck strap and additional leather strapping to be used as reins and has a horsehair tail. The horse rests on a four wheeled red wood plank which has been converted to rest on pine stretchers and rails. The base features four hard rubber and metal wheels and has original nail holes noted in the plank of wood from a restoration.

- wear and scratches throughout; some finish wear to the base; has had some repairs and later conversion to rocking horse.
