A signed oil painting on canvas of a cottage by a river by Clara Inness (American, 1874 – 1932) . Signed to the lower left, the painting with some impasto details depicts a path leading to a small red roofed cottage sitting on the banks of a river surrounded by trees. The painting is presented in a gold tone gesso and wood frame with an elaborate floral design in the corners, an off-white liner, and a gold tone fillet. A wire is present to the verso for hanging purposes.

Condition

- loss of medium to the lower left; stains present to the liner; scuff marks, chipped wood and gesso present to the frame.
