A Hopi wooden Kachina doll by notable Hopi artisan Emery Kyasyousie, titled Angwusnasomtaka. This figurine is hand-painted in warm, earthen tones, carved with a crow feather headdress to the side of its mask. It dances, draped in a Native patterned robe, while clutching a wicker basket with both hands. In Hopi mythology, the Angwusnasomtaka kachina is a mothering figure, the mother of all kachina and is also known as the Crow Mother in English. The figure is mounted to a carved wooden plinth and etched with a signature to the underside, which is accompanied by a sun symbol around an ‘E’. It is dated 1993.
