An oil painting on board created as a book cover for ‘Trumpets of the Storm’ by well listed American illustrator Louis Marchetti (1920-1992). This painting depicts Union cavalry riding on a field of blue with a very pale, almost white sky, in the distance. The majority of the composition occurs in the top 1/3 of the picture plane, leaving the remainder for book title and credits. This piece is unsigned but comes directly from the artist’s estate. It is presented in a gold-tone wood frame with cast embellishments. The verso of this piece includes some biographical information on the artist and an inscription of the title. It is equipped to hang.
