A Modernist oil painting on board by American artist Don Burgess. The Fauvist-inspired still life piece depicts a multicolored vase filled with colorful flowers set on a grey table next to an orange and a lime against a mottled blue backdrop, the scene accented with red outlines throughout. The work is signed by hand to the lower left. It is presented without glass in a gold tone wooden frame with embossed accents, fitted with hanging wire to the verso. The frame backing includes a label with the artist’s signature in blue ink below an inscription of ‘the only thought that the orange has is to be near his beloved flowers thru the night’.
