A Karastan Colonial Williamsburg Rug power-loomed wool area rug in the Kurdish pattern. The rug’s colors and design have been copied from an antique rug in the collection of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. The rug has a navy blue rectangular center field populated with large lotus flower medallions with elongated palmettes and scrolled and split leaves, and smaller floral motifs in shades of cream, pale salmon, light blue, and pale apricot, with a major border in medium salmon with a floral and foliate motif in pale salmon, navy blue, cream, light blue, aqua blue and pale apricot, with two guard stripes in light yellow with foliate patterning. The rug is bordered in navy blue, being well marked with an affixed fabric label to the verso.
