Vintage Carl Thieme Porcelain Salt Cellar Candleholders
Item Details
A pair of vintage Carl Thieme porcelain salt cellar candleholders. These pieces feature a putto on a pierced base, offset by a cluster of fruit and flowers. On each figure’s lap rests a scalloped dish with floral motif to the well. From the center of the base rises a candlestick with foliate shoulders and a ruffled lip. The pieces are hand-painted and finished with gilt trim throughout. They bear the blue underglaze mark to the base used since 1910. The factory, founded by Carl Thieme in 1872, produces Dresden style porcelain in Potschappel, Saxony.
