Hand-carved Japanese Kobe Toy Figure
Item Details
A group of two hand-carved Japanese Kobe toy figures, early 20th century. Lot includes a mechanical wooden doll, a popular artisan crafted toy sold at souvenir shops and where-ever tourists gathered. The Kobe toy depicts a figure with a bald head and wide-open eyes suspended on a long neck, to side a serpent-like creature which extends out of the side when the back crank is turned. The toy in unsigned, possibly crafted by Noguchi Hyakki-Do.
Lot also includes a wooden figure depicting a carved mole, having a detachable head on a long neck. The figure is missing an arm.
