An oil on canvas painting by Joseph Correggio (German 1810 – 1891) of a still life with fruit. The painting depicts an arrangement on a table top of a variety of fruits including melons, grapes, peaches, strawberries in a bowl, as well corn and an onion with a wine bottle and a carafe in the background. It is signed ‘J. Correggio’ to the lower right and mounted in an ornate carved wood frame with a gilded finish and is wired for hanging. It is fitted with a brass tone picture frame. Joseph Correggio was a student of Johann Georg Hiltensperger at the Munich Art Academy and was known for still life and figural paintings executed in the style of 17th century northern European art.
