Vintage Oak Victorian Style Secretary Desk and Eastlake Style Chair

A vintage oak secretary desk and chair. The Victorian style desk has a low guard at the back of the top shelf, and a slant front that folds down to reveal a work surface and hanging, sectioned storage. It has a small drawer with dovetail joints and knob handles, and is raised on cabriole legs with trifed feet. The Eastlake style chair has a swag with geometric design incised on the crest rail, and set over a shaped splat carved with geometric designs, between to bobbin turned stiles. It has simple hip supports on either side of the upholstered seat, which has nailhead trim. The ring turned legs are connected by double box stretchers and end on arrow feet. No visible maker’s mark on either piece.

-wear to the finish of the desk on top, front left leg, and inside; scratches on the writing surface; the right hinge is not attached; the key does not lock the desk, it is simply used to pull it down; chair has wear to the feet; cubbies to the interior are bowed.
