A World War One era swagger stick. This piece features a sterling silver cap etched with the badge of the Nanaimo (British Columbia) Independent Company of Infantry, mustered for service in the first World War, and bearing an image of the Vancouver Island community’s bastion tower; the reverse of the cap bears the name E.H. Gough. It is stamped ‘Birks Sterling’. The shaft is of a knobby medium-toned wood, with a darker wood base atop a rubber foot.

- light tarnish to sterling; sterling personally engraved.
