Item Details

A plaster painting on burlap titled Santa Maria della Salute by well-listed French artist Jacques Lamy (1946-2016). This work features a simplified depiction of the Venetian church with the canal and gondolas occupying the foreground, portrayed with thick loose brushstrokes. The work is signed in black ink to the lower left and to the verso. It is also titled by hand to the verso. The composition is presented in a gilt wood frame with acanthus leaf motifs in the corners.

Jacques Lamy was born in France near the Loire Valley in 1946. He received his formal artist training at Ecole Nationale Superieur des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. Lamy worked as an artist, designer and art teacher allowing him to travel to Spain, Africa, and the United States. His work is housed in instructions such as Musee D’Art Roger Quillot, France and the Jesuit Art Museum in Dallas, Texas.
