An oil painting on panel of a bird eating corn by listed artist Paul Riba (1912 – 1977). This painting depicts a stout woodpecker perched on a plank of weathered wood, pecking at a hung piece of shucked corn. The arrangement overlooks a pastoral landscape with a cluster of houses to the distance. To the lower right corner of the composition is a painted artist signature. This painting is presented in a natural wooden frame featuring a linen liner and hanging wire to the verso.
