An oil painting on canvas board titled Alien by contemporary American artist, filmmaker, actor, and writer Larry Blamire, created in 1988. This work features a half-body portrait of an alien, portrayed with meticulous detail; the figure is set against a gradated red and orange background. As indicated in handwriting to the verso, this work was featured on the cover of the March-April 1989 issue of Aboriginal Science Fiction. The painting is signed and dated to the lower right; it is also signed to the verso. The composition remains unframed.

Raised in Massachusetts, Larry Blamire studied illustration at the Art Institute of Boston. His extensive career in the arts ranges from illustration, to stage acting, to writing and directing films. Earlier in his career, he worked as a science fiction illustrator for several publications including Galileo, and Aboriginal Science Fiction. Among his film releases are The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra, Meet the Mobsters, and Shout! Factory.

- some smudge marks and faint stains along upper left edge of composition; edge wear to canvas; tape adhered along edges to the verso.
