Antique French Morbier Comtoise Ornate Brass Wall Clock with Long Pendulum

Item Details

An ornate French Morbier Comtoise Provincial (circa 1700s – early 1914) wall clock with long pendulum. This antique chiming clock features Roman and Western Arabic numerals on the face with chapter rings, and hour and minute hands. A sun pattern design finished in plated silver and polished brass sheeting on tin adorns the face. The face surround has polished, stamped brass ornamentation set in a floral and fruit motif on a basketweave background pattern. The stamped brass pendulum depicts two pegasi with webbed-fingered feet holding the pendulum face. The well of the pendulum features an adult watching a boy and girl riding an automaton seesaw, which moves when the clock is functioning. A strike bell rests above the Morbier movement box in an open iron frame. The wall clock is weight driven with two lead weights. The clock rests on iron wall supports. The winding key is included.
