Mordi Gassner Lithographs "Lions" and "Giraffes"

A pair of lithographs of animals, titled Lions: The Violence of Nature and Giraffes: The Tenderness of Nature, by listed New York artist Mordi Gassner (1899-1995). These prints depict the titular animals surrounded by atmospheric landscapes, the lions backed by a apparition-like gorilla, and the giraffes with a tall nude woman. Both prints are titled and signed in pencil to their lower margins, Giraffes with an in-plate signature to its lower left, and include personal notes, dated ‘Xmas 1947’ from the artist to their original owners. The pair are matted under glass and are presented beveled wooden frames with wires for hanging.
Condition
- fair; worn frame finishes; glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; minor staining to edges of paper.
