Hand-Knotted Pakistani Turkmen Area Rug

A Pakistani Turkmen area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of rust, sapphire, cream, and camel. It begins with a central diamond medallion in sapphire and cream, flanked at each side by a vertically oriented cartouche medallion, over a rust-colored field. The field is framed by several box borders, each featuring a geometric pattern. Above and below the field are horizontal panels grounded in cream and containing meandering florals. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with long ivory cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
