A pair of pastel drawings of landscapes by listed artist Catherine Maude Nichols (1847 – 1923). These two drawings depict calm bodies of water surrounded by grassy land masses accented with thin, curling trees. One composition is fronted by protruding rocks, while the other features a frozen lake covered in snow, cut by a picketed fence. To the lower corners of each composition are artist signatures. The drawings are presented under glass beneath layered matting in a gold tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- toning to both mats; debris under glass on both prints; edge wear to frames; paper backing torn and stained to verso.
Dimensions
- measures frames; visible image measures: 9.75" W x 6.75" H; both frames measure approximately identical.
