Provenance
The Lucy Baker and Kenworth Moffett Collection of New New Group Painters
An acrylic and mixed media painting on canvas for Lucy Baker from fellow New New painter Bruce Peirmarini, executed in 2001. Black and white pools are juxtaposed over warm and exciting colors with three dimensional forms creating dialogue for viewing. These odd forms promote the interface of light and heavy, fragile and formidable, and degrees of clarity.
Bruce Piermarini received his B.F.A. at the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 1977. Further education includes an M.F.A. at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland in 1980 and Yale Norfolk Fellowship in 1976. Bruce taught at Mount Wacusett Community College, Massachusetts (1976-78) and at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore (1980). Member of the New New Painters, a group of artists brought together by the first curator of modern and contemporary art at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Dr. Kenworth Moffett in 1978.
