The Lucy Baker and Kenworth Moffett Collection of New New Group Painters

An acrylic painting on paper mounted to card mounted to canvas titled Rocaille Tree Tops Pink by New New painter Graham Peacock, executed in 1988. The all over abstract composition of layered polychromatic colors is inspired by Kenneth Noland, Morris Louis, Larry Poons, Jules Olitski, and Jackson Pollock. The combination of media variations allows freedom in the shaping of the composition, inspired by the natural topography of the earth. Like Pollock, Peacock is a process painter, taking a methodical approach in order to frame the most complete work.

Graham Peacock attended Goldsmith’s School of Art at London University from 1962-1966. He continued his post graduate studies in Painting and Sculpture at Leeds College of Art in United Kingdom in 1966 and 1967. Graham attended the Emma Lake Workshop in 1980 and 1981 and the Inaugural Triangle Workshop in Pine Plains, New York in 1982. He was also a Professor of Fine Art and Design at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Member of the New New Painters, a group of artists brought together by the first curator of modern and contemporary art at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Dr. Kenworth Moffett in 1978.
