A Chinese wood and lacquer household shrine. Household shrines are designed to hold offerings to Buddha and other deities. The piece features a scrolled and slanted roof with a lined design in relief over ornate red lacquered columns and ornately carved entryway. The roof features carved dragon details to the sides. The piece features two doors with lattice work tops and blossom details in relief and both are finished with round brass pulls. The panels to the sides and top of the doors feature various ornately carved fish, floral and dragon symbols and Chinese lettering in relief (山西夫子). The piece rests on a rectangular wooden base. A colorful cloth prayer flag banner hangs from the front of the piece below its roof and features various designs in gold tones.
