1885 "Animate Creation" Illustrated Natural History Volumes

A pair of volumes from Animate Creation: Popular Edition of ‘Our Living World,’ a Natural History by the Rev. J. G. Wood, ‘Revised and Adapted to American Zoology, by Joseph B. Holder, M.D.’ This collection includes volumes I and II of the work, titled ‘Mammalia’ and ‘Birds’, both of which feature numerous illustrations including some color plates. The books were published in 1885 by Selmar Hess of New York, and both are bound in full brown cloth on boards with black and gilt cover decoration.
