A vintage Russian icon of Theotokos Hodegetria. Inspired by Byzantine designs, this piece depicts the Theotokos (Virgin Mary) holding Christ, each featuring a halo around their head. It is hand painted in oil against a wooden plaque and presents in rich jewel tones with an all over gold-tone wash. There are Russian markings throughout and the verso is marked ‘A5665 Russian’.
