Item Details

An original poster supplement page published in the the October 16, 1918 copy of the New York Times. The page features a sketch of deceased soldier Private Treptow, illustrated by C. Lesley Baldridge. Alongside his portrait is printed ’Treptow’s Pledge’, a piece of writing found in the deceased private’s pocket. The piece is mounted to cardboard backing and has a thin acetate covering for protection. Information about Treptow is attached to the verso.

Condition

- paper is very yellowed, consistent with age. A few small rips and creases across.
