1976 Famous Filly Ruffian Signed Limited Edition Lithograph

A 1976 signed limited edition lithograph of the famous filly Ruffian, who is considered one of the greatest racing horses of the 20th century. This piece of artwork was created by artist Joe Fears. This lithograph captures Riffian who was the ‘Winner Triple Crown For Fillies’ in 1975. Limited to only 1500, the lithograph is numbered 14 and signed by Joe Fears. Joe Fears captures jockey Jacinto Vasquez aboard Ruffian on that fateful day in July 1975. There is a copyright date of 1976 ‘Equitable Prints’ in the lower right-hand corner of this unframed artwork. Accompanying this limited edition lithograph is its original shipping box from artist Joe Fears. A bay Filly from Claiborne Farms, Ruffian was injured in a race against Kentucky Derby winner, Foolish Pleasure at Belmont Park in 1975. After breaking bones in her leg, she was humanely euthanized after the race. She is buried in the infield at Belmont with her nose facing pointed toward the finish line.
Condition
