An oil painting on canvas board titled San Juan Capistrano by listed artist Arthur J. Stephens (1897 – 1980). This painting, rendered in warm tones and with stipple brushstrokes, depicts two indistinct human figures viewed from beneath adobe archways. It is signed by hand to the lower right corner. This painting is presented without glass in a gold tone wooden frame, ready to hang. Inscribed by hand to the verso is the title and artist’s name.

- surface abrasions to upper edge of composition; small areas of paint loss; nicks and scuff marks to frame; wear throughout frame’s finish; toning to the verso; residue to the verso.
