An oil painting on canvas portrait of a Native American man by Jorge (Braun) Tarallo (Uruguayan/American, b. 1951). Depicted is a portrait of a man with braided hair and an earring in his right ear. His face appears weathered and his eyes tired. The painting is rendered is predominantly brown tones giving the feel of an early 20th-century sepia photograph. Signed to the lower right, ‘BRAUN.’ Presented without glass and housed in a beveled wood frame.
Jorge Tarallo was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1951. He studied at the National Arts School and moved to California in 1972 to begin painting. Tarallo is most well known for his landscape paintings and portraits, specifically of Native Americans, with special concentration to the effects of light and shadows.
