A Chinese green Budai resin figurine. Budai (布袋, Hotei in Japanese), is a folkloric deity of happiness and contentment who is also known as the Laughing Buddha. He is depicted smiling, with a rotund belly, and fat earlobes. He holds a strand of Buddhist prayer beads and an offering bowl. The plinth is marked with the Chinese idiom ‘amiability makes your wealthy’ (和氣生財). The underside has an affixed sticker with the head of a dragon.
