An oil painting on canvas of a harvest landscape, by artist Nelson D. Wilson (1880-1950). This warm piece depicts stacks of harvested hay against a background of autumnal trees and fields and a sky scattered with pinkish clouds. The painting is signed and dated ‘’27’ to its lower left corner, and is presented in a gold tone wood and gesso frame with molded foliate details and a wire for hanging.
Nelson D. Wilson was born in Leopold, Indiana during 1880. He received his formal education from Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago. Wilson is best known for his landscape and mural painting. He believed in the plein-air method of painting in which the artist paints onsite to created the piece as close to real experience. During the Great Depression he worked as a sign painter and created murals for Evansville Coliseum, Indiana. Wilson also created theatrical scenery from Central High School and a stage curtain for McCutchanville school. He also worked with C. Curry Bohm in his Brown County Studio. His work has been exhibited at the Hoosier Salon in Chicago and various institutions just as Evansville Museum.

- fair; numerous cracks in gesso details on frame; edge sections missing on sides; chips and scratches to frame finish; spots and scratches to verso.
