A hand embellished lithograph after an oil painting by Henry F. Farny (French/American 1847 – 1915) titled The Song of the Talking Wire. It depicts a snowing landscape and Native American man standing with his ear pressed to a telegraph pole listening. It is signed in the plate ‘H. F. Farny 1904’ to the lower right and marked ‘Photographische Gesellschaft Berlin’ to the lower left. It is mounted under glass in a wide wooded frame heavily carved with a foliate design and wired for hanging.
Condition
- several large chips, small chips and surface cracks to the frame, particularly to the lower left corner and upper left; white spots on the surface of the print.
