A sterling silver flatware service by Gorham. The Buttercup pattern was introduced in 1899 and features embossed floral handles with acanthus leaf accents. This seventy-six piece set consists of twelve hollow handle dinner knives, twelve forks, twelve salad forks, twenty teaspoons, eight round bowl soup spoons and eight individual flat handle butter spreaders. Accessory pieces include a pierced bon bon spoon, a hollow handle master butter knife, a sugar spoon and a double tine butter pick. The flatware is marked ‘Gorham Sterling’ to handle backs, with ‘Sterling Handle’ to the knives and ‘Stainless’ to the blades. The service comes housed in a flatware storage case with brown tarnish resistant fabric lining by Pacific Silvercloth. The total approximate weight, excluding the hollow handle knives, is 67.740 ozt.
