A fine, antique hand-knotted Lavar Kerman wool area rug. This large rug features an all over pattern of large cartouche medallions in a tawny gold, flanked on each side by bracketed floral and star elements, each filled with stylized floral elements in pale blue, surrounded by a dense pattern of flower heads, foliage and vine work with racemes of similar floral elements in brick red, taupe, ochre, yellow-gold and shades of orange and ivory on a deep indigo blue-black field. The guard borders are a pale pink with ochre and small abstract patterning, framing a cadet blue primary border with floral in the field colors. The rug has a soft, flexible handle and it has overcast edges with very short, cropped warp fringe to the ends. It is unlabeled.
