An oil painting on canvas of a market scene by listed Mexican artist Luis Ricardo Amendolla Gesparo (1939-2000). This painting features a market full of vaguely rendered figures buying fruit or relaxing on a nearby stoop. All of the women are dressed in brightly colored clothing and the men are dressed all in white with a hat and red sash. This work is rendered with thinly applied paint and some impasto accents. It is signed in paint to the bottom left corner. This painting is presented in a wood frame without glass; hanging wire is present to the verso.
Condition
- water marks and slight foxing to canvas; partial puncture/indent to the right edge in the middle of a painted watermelon; scratches, dents, and marks to the frame; one inch tear to the left edge, reinforced with tape to the verso.
