Vintage Converted "Victory Lamp" Style Artillery Shell Table Lamp

Item Details

A vintage converted artillery shell table lamp in the style of World War I ‘Victory Lamps.’ It has an off-white rounded rectangular shade with an applied pattern of various cancelled stamp issues, including ‘C’ Eagle Domestic Mail stamps, and woven trim at top and bottom. It has a white finial and single light socket. The shade and harp rest on a converted 75 mm dummy artillery shell with inlaid copper driving bands at the base, resting on a wood stand. Unmarked.

Condition

- to fair; powered on when tested.
- the shell has a dent near the tip and has numerous scratches and marks with pitting; has been highly polished.
- the stamps on the shade are affixed but some corners are bent.
