An original vintage oil painting on canvas by listed American artist and educator Thomas J. Strickland (Florida/New Jersey, 1932 – 1999). The portrait depicts a young woman with dark eyes and vivid red lips. She has a pale cloth wrapped around her head and gazes slightly upwards. The painting is created in short, expressive strokes. The painting is signed faintly in navy blue to the upper left. It is presented in a composite frame with a hanging wire attached to the verso. Strickland studied art extensively, including at the National Academy of Fine Arts (New York) and the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts.
Condition
- extensive craquelure across painting. Light scratch near signature to upper left. A few very small scratches to frame.
