An oil on canvas maritime painting by artist, Homer Costello. This Impressionist style painting features impasto technique throughout the composition. The painting depicts a sailboat with a bright orange sail, gliding away from a rickety wooden pier. It is signed by hand to the lower left corner. This work is presented without glass in a black wooden frame with a beige linen liner. Affixed to the verso is a metal hanging wire.
Condition
- wear consistent with age and use; would benefit from cleaning; paint loss to top of pier; liner is heavily stained; toning to liner; miters at the bottom of liner have separated; frame has overall surface wear, small chips; top left corner of frame has separated.
