Antique Mahogany Commode With Ironstone Chamber Pot

Item Details

An antique mahogany commode with original ironstone chamber pot. The commode is made of mahogany with pine secondary woods and includes a built-in step. The lid is hinged and opens to reveal a seat platform with a white ironstone receptacle. The top of the step and the top of the lid are fitted with green leather accented with gold stamped borders, and it rests on five short, straight turned wood legs, with metal caps on the bottoms. No maker’s marks on the commode. The white receptacle is marked to the underside, ‘Bristol Pountney & Co. Ltd. – England, Est’d 1685’.
