19th-Century Fischer J. Highly Reticulated Vase

A 19th-century Fischer J. reticulated ceramic vase, Budapest, Hungary. Hand painted with Persian blue and gilt decoration, having double hexagonal handles. Highly ornate reticulation appears throughout the body, handles, neck and even extends from foot to collar. Marked to the underside with a black stamp.
Fischer J. Budapest was founded by Ignace Fischer in Pest, Hungary, in 1864. (Pest is the eastern half of modern Budapest which was united with the western half, Buda, in 1873). His pieces bear the mark ‘Fischer J.’ with the ‘J’ being the same letter as ‘I’ in Hungarian. The Fischer factory was bought by Zsolnay Pottery in 1895.
