Large Oberammergau Hand-Carved Nativity Scene in Display Case

Item Details

A hard-carved nativity set created by Leopold Moroder and purchased in Oberammergau, Germany in the late 1940s. The scene is displayed against a three-dimensional setting inside a lighted glass display case. The Holy Family, with Joseph holding a lantern, shelters in the stable under an angel and the star. The wise men, shepherds, two children and a host of animals are on hand for the miracle. The unpainted figures feature intricate detailing.
