Antique Chromolithograph Reproduction after John Everett Millais's "Cherry Ripe"

An antique late 19th-century oil-based chromolithograph on canvas board after the original oil painting by Sir John Everett Millais (1829-1896) titled Cherry Ripe. These types of chromolithographs were printed with thick, heavy, oil-based inks to mimic original oil paintings, and were marketed toward the middle classes so that they could affordably enjoy their sophisticated look. This piece, which originally referenced a popular song, depicts a young girl dressed in a white dress and cap, her hands resting in her lap. This print is unsigned, in a molded gold tone frame with a wire to the verso for hanging.

- moderate abrasions to painting; yellowing to varnish; minor cracking to surface of frame.
