Antique Mettlach Stoneware Lidded Punch Bowl

Item Details

An antique Mettlach punch bowl etched by Henrich Schiltt. This piece features various raised patterns surrounding cartouches depicting a courting couple in 18th century French attire relaxing together as a cupid flies over them. The maker’s mark is stamped on the underside of the piece with a production number of ‘2088’.

Condition

- nicks present on the handles; heavy horizontal fracture present on the interior of the lid; various degrees of wear and residue present on the other parts of the bowls. There is a repair to the underside of the lid made with staples.
