An oil painting on canvas board of a rocky landscape, signed ‘R.H. Sturges’. Portrayed with loose brushstrokes, suppressed detail, and a pastel palette, this work features a rocky sloping terrain in the foreground, populated with trees and foliage. A grassy terrain recedes through the middle-ground and large rocky hills fill the background. The painting is signed to the lower left. It is presented in a distressed blue and brown wood frame.

- small, deep tear towards center of piece; slight wear to corner and edges of frame, including scratches, stains, and finish loss.
