An original 1955 gouache painting on paper by well-listed French-born Irish-American artist, Roderic Montagu (1907 – 2001). The image depicts a vague, gestural street scene in which town inhabitants mill about primarily on foot, with an opulent Rococo horse-drawn carriage in the mix, going about their daily rituals. Artist signature is signed and dated in paint to the bottom edge. This work is mounted under coordinating matting, behind museum glass in a beveled wood frame with a hammered silver leaf finish, equipped to hang.
